ManSEDS is a student-run society at the University of Manchester and is also the Manchester branch of the national student-run space organisation SEDS.
Manchester Students for the Exploration and Development of Space
Our mission statement is to "To promote space science and development through educational and engineering projects" by:
Increasing access to practical engineering projects
Develop new student rocketry capability at the University of Manchester
Promoting space science and development through outreach
President
I'm a third-year student studying MEng Aerospace Engineering with Management with a particular interest in space systems, designing complex systems and working towards a better world. I enjoy mentoring my peers and inspiring the next generation of critical thinkers. On the weekend you can find me in the mountains enjoying the great outdoors.
Vice President and Secretary
I’m a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering major. My interests lie in robotics and propulsion systems but I‘m always keen to learn about new things. Aside from these, I‘m a casual golfer and Sid Meier‘s Civ enjoyer. I really look forward to meeting both familiar and new faces at ManSEDS, working together to reach new heights!
Treasurer
Second year Mechenical Engineering student. Personally, I just like things that are fast and powerful. Quite frankly, there’s nothing more dopamine-inducing than the ‘woosh’ of a rocket or the ‘purr’ of an engine. Outside of University, you will probably find me in the woods or the gym.
Chief Engineer
I’m a second year Aerospace Engineering student. I’m fascinated by all things rocket related, with a special interest in propulsion and the Saturn V. I spend my free time rereading Sarah J. Mass books and playing the recorder. When I’m not at University, I live in Austria and enjoy hiking, biking and travelling.
Project Manager
Curious 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Manchester. Interested in sporty & luxurious vehicles, civil aircraft and (reusable) rockets. In general, any man-made flying object, whether it's airborne or simply hard to catch up to/with.
Learning how different systems work together and understanding the different possible failure modes, is what motivates me as I can envision room for improvement.
In my free time, I like to learn how different machines/systems operate and play video games.
Inclusions Officer
I am Patricia studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Manchester and I am excited to be part of ManSEDS committee!
Social Media Officer
Third-year Aerospace Engineering student! I love all space-related subjects and the inner workings of each; my favourites have to be propulsion and rocket design. I am always looking forward to launches and testing different models; even if there is trouble, there is always something to learn and improve.
I'm very passionate about design, art, photography, and architecture. In my free time, I love to fish, explore the city and try new restaurants.
Social and Events Officer
2nd year Computer Science student passionate about building (hopefully) useful stuff! Im interested in all facets of engineering, software, mechanical, electrical, and find something particularly special about a high rocket propelling itself through earth’s atmosphere and beyond. On the weekends you can catch me reading books about tech, writing and daydreaming about extreme sports. Trying to learn more about rocketry and how things work with the wonderful and witty people in ManSEDS!
